Ink on paper, 32 x 24 cm
While making the work Gulalhi I created a series of poems, notes and written works on paper that were in response to my experiences working and photographing in and around the border region of Northern France. These pieces were written about people I met or photographed, and sometimes they became the basis for sculptures or works on canvas.
Gulalhi is a portrait of landscapes of migration, focused on border spaces of transition and movement and individual and collective stories, and includes photography, language-based works on blankets and on paper, and sound.
Gulalhi will be shown at the Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery in November 2018, along with other recent projects.
